The goal of the Public Education Division is to provide fire and life safety education programs to the community. Our Safety Education Team is comprised of more than thirty firefighters and now community volunteers and are responsible for all the public education programs.
Some of the programs include: ATV Safety, Babysitting Training, Bike Rodeos, Car Seat Fittings & FREE Seats, Characterization Programs, Community Safety Fair, CPR & First Aid Training, Drowning Prevention, Fire & Life Safety Education Lessons, FREE Fire Extinguishers, Fire Safety Trailer, Home Escape Plan, Home Safety Inspections, Juvenile Fire Setter Intervention Program, Mini-Musters (2nd graders), Senior Citizen Fire Academy, FREE Smoke Detector Installations, and the Vial of Life Program.
Thanks to a Pima County Development Block Grant, Drexel Heights Fire District is able to provide several family safety programs.
American Heart Association CPR and First Aid trainings are offered monthly. Registration for these classes takes place at the Administration Center. Call first for more details (520) 883-4341
Car Seat inspections and installations are offered to district residents FREE of charge. For an appointment, please call 883-4341 ext. 250. Non-District residents, can contact one of the other Pima County Car Seat Fitting locations.
Smoke Detectors and Fire Extinguishers are also offered to district residents FREE of charge with a home safety inspection. For an appointment, please call 883-4341.
Babysitting classes are offered in the summer months for participants ages 12-16 years. The program includes classes such as First Aid, CPR, Child Care, Games & Activities, Fire Safety & Fire Extinguisher training, and Professionalism.
